Does Wes-Tex offer a gloss or matte finish?
We offer a gloss finish that is made using a UV coating for an additional charge. We do not offer a matte finish. Click here for information on UV coating on full color + foil.
What is UV coating?
UV Coating is a clear liquid spread over the paper like ink and then cured instantly with ultraviolet light. We use a high-gloss flood coating system. UV coating gives more protection and sheen than either varnish or aqueous coating. Since it is cured with light and not heat, no solvents enter the atmosphere. UV coating is applied as a separate finishing operation as a flood coating.
Can both sides of a sheet be UV coated?
Only one side of the C1S may be UV coated.
Both sides of C2S may be coated.
UV coating is not available on 80# White Raglan and 110# White Classic Crest.
How thick is the stock once coating is applied?
The applied UV coating is not measurable per card. The total additional thickness of 1000 cards with UV coating on one side is approximately 1/3 inch.
What file types are accepted for full color business cards?
Our preferred file types are PDF, PS and EPS. These files are PreFlighted and an online proof is displayed at the time of order. Proofs created by preferred files are at no charge.
Non-preferred file types include native files created in CorelDRAW®, Quark Xpress®, Adobe InDesign®, Adobe PageMaker®, Adobe Photoshop®, Adobe Illustrator®, and Freehand®, Publisher® files are accepted but not recommended because of inherent problems converting them to PDF.
What is 4/0, 4/1, 4/2, 4/3, 4/4?
This refers to how many inks are printed on each side. The first number indicates how many inks will be printed on the front side. The second number indicates how many inks will be printed/simulated on the back side. All of the colors in your job will be printed using CMYK even if it is just black or a spot/Pantone® color.

color business cards?
We offer quantities of 100, 250, 500, and 1000. For orders of more than 1000, quantities must be a multiple of 1000. (ie: 2000, 3000, 4000, etc.)
What quantities are available on full color artisan line of business cards?

Is a proof required?
Yes, an approved PDF proof is required.
If a preferred file type is sent the first proof is provided at no additional charge. Non-preferred file types will have a Full Color Service Charge applied for the first proof. Each additional proof will be charged a Full Color Service Charge.
Proofs on orders for multiple units (preferred and non-preferred file types):
If the order is for multiple units the first proof will be for only one unit. Any additional units that require a proof will be charged a Full Color Service Charge per unit. Please indicate that you want multiple proofs in your additional instructions.
Are there extra charges for handling non-preferred files?
Yes, a Full Color Service Charge is applied. Non-preferred files
require additional handling because they must be removed from
the automated workflow
and manually adjusted including
creating and sending the first proof.
Can changes be made to my artwork?
Yes, minor changes to art can be done and a Full Color Service Charge will be applied to the order.
When will a Full Color Service Charge apply?
To provide our customers with a competitive base-cost price your digital files must enter our automated workflow system.
A Full Color Service Charge will be applied for the following reasons:
- Initial handling of non-preferred file types
- Each additional proof after the first one
- Minor alterations to artwork
Why can full color orders only be placed via upload?
To maintain the high standards of quality that you have come to expect from Wes-Tex, we have implemented several features into our upload process. These help to ensure that we receive your files correctly and without errors that would cause them to print incorrectly or delay production. These features are specific to the upload process and cannot be accomplished via other ordering methods.
What are CMYK and RGB?
Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black are the individual colors used to print other colors. Red, Green, and Blue are the colors computers use to display images on a monitor. Click
here for more information on CMYK/RGB.
Does Wes-Tex accept RGB files?
Yes, we accept RGB files but we prefer CMYK. Click here for more information
on CMYK/RGB and why we prefer CMYK.
Why should black text be 100% black (K), and not CMYK Black?
A color of 100% black (K) gives a true, rich color. A color that looks like black and is made of CMYK will dull the output, leaving a grayish black rather than a true rich black. PreFlight corrects any black that is +95% (K) with any CM or Y to 100% (K).
How do I know if a Pantone® color will
produce correctly?
Our NexPress swatch books shows if a color is ‘Good’, ‘Commercially Acceptable’ or ‘Out of Gamut’. Out of gamut refers to a color that we cannot emulate well with CMYK printing. View
the Pantone® Swatch Book
Can I have a bleed(s) on my full color order?
Yes, your artwork can bleed off of all four sides. There is no extra charge for a bleed(s). All standard business cards must be set to a page size of 3.625 in. x 2.125 in. even if they do not have a bleed(s). Artisan shapes have different document sizes as follows: Round – 2.875 in. x 2.875 in.; Square – 2.625 in. x 2.625 in.; Rectangle – 3.125 in. x 2.125 in.; Pillar – 3.625 in. x 1.625 in.
Why doesn't my printed order match what I see on my monitor?
Every device displays/prints colors differently. If your file was created using RGB, there are significant color shifts that occur when your file is converted to CMYK for printing. If your file was created using CMYK, there can still be some color variations due to differences between your monitor and our press. To ensure that your color matches as close as possible create/convert your files in/to CMYK. If you need to match an exact color use a Pantone that is either 'Good' or 'Commercially Acceptable' in our Pantone® Swatch Book. In addition you can request a press proof to see how the color will be printed on our press.
What is a press proof?
A press proof is a sample printed on the same press that will print your finished product. It is used to verify color matching. Press proofs can be shipped to you or drop shipped to your customer. There is an additional charge for a press proof, as well as shipping charges. Press proofs can be requested while
you are placing your Upload order.
Can I make changes to my artwork after I have submitted my order?
Our posted time to process orders is 1-2 days, we will often have the orders processed and shipped within hours, or even minutes depending on the time of day the order is received and other factors.
