What is Embossing?
The creation of a three-dimensional design or image on paper. In this process, two dies are used; one with raised logo or characters and another with matching but recessed logo or characters. When a sheet of paper is pressed between the two dies, embossing occurs. Embossing can be done on plain paper or combined with ink or foil for special effects.
What is Blind Embossing?
No ink or foil is used in the embossed area. The color of the image is the same as the paper color.
What is Foil Embossing?
A two-step process where the paper is stamped with foil and then the foiled area is embossed to create a raised foil image.
What is Ink Embossing?
An embossed image that exactly matches an image printed in ink.
Which Embossing processes does Wes-Tex recommend for optimum visual impact?
Blind Embossing is the best option for showcasing the embossed effect. Foil Embossing is also a good choice.
Can I thermograph an ink embossed image?
Yes. But note that the raise of thermography and the height of embossing are similar, so the embossed effect can only be seen or felt on the back of the card.
