What is the printing area for Artisan Cards?
Ink must have a minimum of 4.5 points from the edge of the finished card. Foil must have a minimum of 9 points from the edge of the finished card.
Bleeds: When ink covers a card all the way to the edge it is called a bleed. In order to print bleeds, your layout should be sized to the bleed size. (3.625 in. x 2.125 in. for a standard business card) We need room to trim the card so the layout is positioned correctly and the ink covers the desired area. Keep in mind that everything outside of the final cut size (3.5 in. x 2 in. for standard business cards) will be trimmed off. Always submit your orders 1-up, at either standard card size or at bleed size when your design includes a bleed.
If your art does not bleed, make sure it does not extend too far toward the edge of the card. If art is close to the edge, it is very difficult to position correctly. Allow at least 1/16 of an inch on all sides when art does not bleed.
